Projects, projects, projects

Wow, it's hard to believe that I've not posted since June. I have been drawing though. The picture above proves it.

It was an unreasonably busy summer with little time to draw. I know, I know, excuses, excuses. I had all these story ideas buzzing about in my head so what little time I did carve out went to writing those down. I love drawing outfits, but books, ah books, they're my true love.

Poor lonely Bloggy. I'll do my best to pay attention to you again.

Pre-Pajama's Outfit

(blazer/ peplum top- Anthropologie, Boyfriend Jeans- Pilcro, Shoes- Fly, Squirrel Necklace- Green Eye Design from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.)

I have to apologize. I had intended to try a few sketches from the road these past few weeks, but work travel never really goes as planned. Visiting the Atlantic provinces for the first time turned out to be far too distracting. And a bit cold for a time, so my style was less refined and more let's-put-on-every-item-I-packed-at-once-in-order-to-stay-warm chic. It was a lovely trip that I got to share with my Mom, even though, right on cue, I'm getting some sort of virus that will no doubt get in the way of life for a time. If only I could travel and stay healthy for once!

Anyway, this is something I wore today when my fella and I went for sushi. Pictures of me in my pj's, surrounded by used tissues to come soon...

Bunnies in the 'hood

I admit that as far as outfit drawings go, I've been all kinds of remiss. I blame the bunnies.

I live in this little picturesque corner of the world where beavers, river otters, ducks, herons, bald eagles, raccoons, coyotes and even pheasants make appearances on my daily walks and jogs. But I think I am most enchanted by all the bunnies. Some are little wild cottontails but many are lost or discarded pets that some of the locals have taken to caring for. As far as I know though, I'm the only one who has named them. They are pretty easy to keep straight since they have very clear territories. Bea was my bunny for the winter when food was scarce. She would come every night to eat her pellets and carrots and have a groom in the safety of our backyard. When Spring came she moved on to all the blooms of the area, but I hope she will return for her winter diet again come October.

Growing up with eight cats, having a bunny was never really an option. Now, it seems, I finally have my chance.

Traveling in Cozies

(Scarf/ Jacket- Anthropologie, Sweater/ Pants- Aritzia, Flats- J Crew Factory)

Apparently I have fallen so out of the habit of drawing my outfits that I'm just terrible at it! But I'm posting anyway because I actually did a drawing for the blog and that's half the battle. I wanted to try out a few different brushes in photoshop but it turns out I wasn't much of a fan. Oh well, live and learn.

I wore this on the plane for one of my many work trips. Once upon a time I would try hard to look nice on the off chance that the airline would upgrade me. I hold no such illusions now, so elastic waist pants it is.

BIg-Headed Blast from the Past

(Blouse, necklace- Anthropologie, Jeans- AG, Cami- Old Navy, Shoes- Kenneth Cole Reaction)

Just for old times sake I thought I would draw myself as I used to. Though clearly I've been drawing my stylized stuff for too long as I'm hopeless with proportions!

Spring has officially arrived in Vancouver. It's absolutely AMAZING! Bring on the flats and the ankle length jeans! Even more exciting- the realization I had today that soon I will get to see little fuzzy yellow ducklings on my evening walks. Sigh, it's good to be home.

February Light Coats

(Shirt, Scarf, Jeans, coat- Anthropologie, Boots- Arnold Churgin Calgary)

I was so happy to wear this t-shirt thin coat on the last day of February. This really is one of the things I missed most about the West Coast, Spring in February!

Just to really make myself realize how lovely it is to be back in the land of year-round-green, I have travelled back to Saskatoon. Thankfully I missed the -51 C day, but, now that I have my West Coast legs back, -15 C feels dreadful enough! I'll keep dreaming of my flats for another week...

Sweatshirts are the New Black

(Scarf, Green Sweater and vest- Gap,
Floral sweatshirt and booties- Anthropologie, Jeans- Level 99)

How weird it is to draw something NOT for a project! This was an outfit I wore last week to the movies. I have to say, whoever decided to make sweatshirts cute AND in style deserves a Thank You note. Really, top notch decision style makers! It's about time they found a way to take the guilt out of comfy clothes. Genius.
